Fill in the Blanks

In a fill-in-the-blank question a sentence has a gap and you choose the word that fits best; in the closely-related sentence-improvement question a bold phrase may need replacing (or "No improvement"). The approach is the same for both: predict the missing word first, then match it to an option, and if stuck, use grammar clues and elimination. This chapter covers grammar blanks, vocabulary blanks, double blanks and sentence improvement.

Step 1: read the whole sentence and predict the word yourself. Step 2: pick the option closest to your prediction. Step 3: if unsure, eliminate the clearly wrong options. Step 4: use grammar clues from the words around the blank — the right verb tense, the right preposition, an article, or agreement. A grammar blank is decided by rule, not by feel.चरण 1: पूरा वाक्य पढ़ें और स्वयं शब्द का अनुमान लगाएँ। चरण 2: अनुमान के निकटतम विकल्प चुनें। चरण 3: अनिश्चित हों तो स्पष्ट गलत विकल्प हटाएँ। चरण 4: रिक्त के आस-पास के शब्दों से व्याकरण-संकेत लें — सही काल, सही preposition, article, या मेल। व्याकरण रिक्त नियम से तय होता है, भावना से नहीं।

Vocabulary Blanks

A vocabulary blank tests the exact word for the meaning. All four options may be grammatically fine, so choose the one whose precise meaning and usual pairing fit the sentence — a bullet is "deflected" (not "diverted"), TV parts are "components" (not "compounds").शब्दावली रिक्त अर्थ के लिए सटीक शब्द जाँचता है। चारों विकल्प व्याकरणिक रूप से ठीक हो सकते हैं, इसलिए वह चुनें जिसका सटीक अर्थ और सामान्य युग्म वाक्य में बैठे — गोली "deflected" होती है ("diverted" नहीं), TV के पुर्ज़े "components" हैं ("compounds" नहीं)।

Double Blanks & Connectors

A double blank needs both words to fit — so test the whole pair. Often the second blank is easier; use it to eliminate. Watch the logic between the halves: contrast wants "although…yet / but"; cause-effect wants "because…so / the more…the more".दोहरे रिक्त में दोनों शब्द बैठने चाहिए — इसलिए पूरी जोड़ी जाँचें। अक्सर दूसरा रिक्त आसान होता है; उससे हटाएँ। दोनों भागों के बीच तर्क देखें: विरोध चाहे "although…yet / but"; कारण-प्रभाव चाहे "because…so / the more…the more"।
