Mountain Passes of India

A mountain pass is a navigable route through a mountain range or over a ridge that connects valleys or regions on either side. India's passes range from the icy high-altitude corridors of the Himalayas and Karakoram — critical for defence, trade, and pilgrimage — to the lower ghats and gaps of the Western Ghats that knit together the coastal and inland regions of peninsular India. For SSC CGL, knowing which pass lies in which state, what it connects, and its strategic or historical significance is a recurring and high-scoring topic.
